European Trademark - CTM
You should always consider a trademark registration in Europe before targeting the European market with a new offer. If you take a chance to not protect your mark you may already be infringing upon someone elses trademark, or alternatively, someone else may soon file a trademark application in Europe and stop you from using "your" mark.
Even if you are only planning to sell your products or services to a few European countries, it is usually a better option to file a European Community Trademark Application (CTM) than to file national applications in the respective countries. A European trademark filing, which currently encompasses 27 countries, is very cost-efficient compared to national trademark filings. The cost of obtaining a CTM registration is only 2-3 times the cost of obtaining a single national trademark. The European trademark will give you very wide territorial protection, and if approved,
the CTM offers the same level of protection as any national trademark registration.
